Privacy Policy
Introduction
Hey there! I'm Bevan, the founder of Strawberry (find me on X). I'm the one responsible for your privacy. I've done my best to keep this page clear.
This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Chrome extension. By using our service, you're agreeing to these terms.
TL;DR
- • Use core features without registration. Your summaries are associated with an anonymous ID.
- • Upon upgrading:
- • Sign in with Google to link your previous anonymous history.
- • You can delete your summary and chat history at any time.
- • Select between enhanced privacy (history deleted in 72 hours) or enabling extra features.
- • We track usage data to improve the product
- • We don't sell your data. We do share some usage data with third party service providers to operate the service (ie Mixpanel for analytics and Postmark for transactional emails).
Can we see your internet and YouTube activity?
No! Here's what you should know:
- •
We can't see your YouTube or web history - what you watch, search, like, or subscribe to remains private
- •
Limited, read-only access - unlike other extensions, we don't ask for access to "all sites you visit" - just YouTube
- •
We can't modify anything - we can't post, comment, or make any changes on your behalf
- •
You control your data - use Privacy Mode for faster auto-deletion or delete your data anytime
Information We Collect
- User Data & Authentication
You can use our core features immediately after installation without email or registration. We create an anonymous session to track your usage. If you sign in with Google, we'll link your previous usage to your Google credentials. At this point, you'll have full control over your data, including the ability to delete it entirely.
- Usage Data
We keep an eye on how you use our extension to make sure everything's running smoothly and to improve our service. Here's what you should know:
- •By default, we associate your summaries and chat history with your account. Switch to Privacy Mode for auto-deletion within 3 days (if signed in with Google).
- •You can manually delete your data anytime (if signed in with Google).
- •Your settings and site usage are private.
- •We don't sell any of your information.
- •We don't track what YouTube videos you watch.
- Standard Web Request Information
We collect standard information related to each service request you make. This includes IP addresses and browser types.
Whenever you visit any website or use any online service, your device sends certain information to the server. This includes your IP address (which helps identify your general location and internet service provider) and browser information (which helps websites display correctly for your specific browser).
We use this information primarily for:
- •Making sure our service is working properly
- •Fixing technical issues
- •Understanding broad usage patterns to improve our service
- Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party services to help run our platform. Here's who we share data with and why:
Email Communications
- •Postmark: We share your email address with Postmark to send you important account notifications and updates. They're bound by strict privacy policies and only use your email for sending our communications.
Analytics and Error Reporting
- •Google Analytics: Helps us understand how users interact with our website (not the extension).
- •Mixpanel: Tracks feature usage and helps us improve the product experience.
- •Sentry: Monitors for technical issues so we can fix them quickly.
These services help us maintain and improve Strawberry, but we're careful to share only what's necessary. They're all bound by strict data protection agreements and industry-standard security practices.
- Payment Information
When you purchase a subscription:
- •We use Stripe to process payments. When you make a purchase, Stripe collects and stores your payment information (like your name, email, and payment method details).
- •We receive some personally identifiable information from Stripe to manage your subscription, including your name, email, and subscription status.
- •Stripe maintains its own privacy policy and security measures to protect your payment information.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- •Provide and maintain our service
- •Improve and optimize our extension
- •Communicate with you about your account or the service
- •Detect and prevent technical issues
We do not send any personally identifiable information to our LLM service providers (unless you include that information in a chat).
Data Security
We take your data security seriously. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, but it's worth remembering that no method of internet transmission is 100% secure.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- •Access the personal information we have about you
- •Request correction of your personal information
- •Request deletion of your personal information
- •Delete your chats at any time
To exercise these rights, just email us at info@strawberry.army.
Cookies
We only use essential cookies to make this site work properly. We don't use cookies on the extension itself.
Children's Privacy
Our service isn't meant for children under 13. Why? Well, there are special rules and regulations about collecting data from kids, and our service isn't designed with those rules in mind. If you're under 13, we'll have to ask you to wait a few years before using Strawberry.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll let you know about any big changes, but it's a good idea to check back here now and then.
